My name is Oscar and I am a resident at De La Cruz Farms. I’m a mini donkey and I have a lot of opinions.
First of all, I love people. Truly. If you walk anywhere near my fence at De La Cruz Farm, I assume you are there for me. Your job is to pet my nose, scratch behind my ears, and tell me I’m handsome. If you don’t do this, I will follow you with my eyes until guilt kicks in. It usually works.
Second—food. I love food more than almost anything. Hay? Yes. Apples? Absolutely. Carrots? The best day of my life. I can hear a treat bag from a mile away, and I will come trotting over like I wasn’t just pretending to nap five seconds ago. Don’t try to hide snacks. I always know.
I also love life here on the farm. At De La Cruz Farm, there’s always something happening—people working, animals moving, and new faces showing up every day. I like being in the middle of it all, watching and listening, feeling like I’m part of the team.
And I really do enjoy working with others. Whether it’s standing patiently while someone cleans my shed, walking alongside a friend, or just being nearby while people do their chores, I like knowing we’re doing things together. I may be a mini donkey, but I understand teamwork. When everyone works together, the farm runs smoother—and there are usually more snacks involved, which is a win for me.
Now… I should probably admit this next part. I’m a little mischievous. Not mean, just curious. If there’s a gate, I will test it. If there’s something you don’t want me to touch, I will absolutely touch it. And baths? I hate baths. Don’t ask me why. I just do. The moment I see a hose or a bucket, I suddenly remember somewhere else I need to be. I will side-eye the water, shuffle my hooves dramatically, and make it very clear that this is not part of my plan for the day.
So that’s me—Oscar. A people-loving, food-loving, life-loving mini donkey of De La Cruz Farm who enjoys working with others, helping in my own way, and keeping things interesting. Bring snacks, bring scratches, and maybe… leave the bath at home.
